LET'S RUN!
11/5/2007

What I Seek

I am looking for a running / exercise / fitness partner.  It would be nice to have a friend to pass the time with while running.

You can be male or female.  That doesn't matter.

I hope that we can encourage each other on our quests for fitness and good health.

Where

I live in Kemah.  We could run around here weekends, some evenings, or early mornings.

We could run on the Seabrook hike & bike trails or anywhere else in the Clear Lake area on the weekends.

I work in Galveston so during weekdays (before, during, or after work) Galveston might be an option.  I usually run and work out at the UTMB gym.  There is an outdoor track on campus.

How I Run

I average about 10-11 minute miles.  My personal best is around 9:30 for a mile.  5 kilometers for me is around 40 minutes.

A weekday routine for me generally consists of a 1 or 2 mile run.

On the weekends, I sometimes go 3 miles or a little more, but not often.

Running makes up about 90% of my workouts.

Otherwise, I typically do traditional exercises like sit ups, push ups, deep knee bends, etc.

About Me

I am a thirty-five year old white male.  I am happily married and have 2 children.  I am a computer programmer, fire fighter, EMT, and an officer in the Texas State Guard.

Over the past decade I have let my weight slowly creep up to an unacceptable level.  I currently weigh 248 pounds.  Since March 2006, I have lost 46 pounds doing moderate exercise and trying to eat healthy.  But getting the weight off is a long, slow battle.

I am healthy and have no physical / medical limitations.

Goals

By the end of 2008, I would like to drop 25 more pounds.   But the weight is secondary.  My goal is to exercise and eat well.  If I do these things, my weight will surely take care of itself.

In the next few months, I would like to get my 2 mile time below 20 minutes

O hallelujah! O hallelujah! O hallelujah! He's coming again.
