Bagpipes - $600
Unrestored set of sticks and stocks only (plus wooden
chanter). They look to be Hardie or Lowery pipes. Half-mounted
with silver ferrules and imitation ivory projecting mounts.
The silver is heavily tarnished (black). Many ferrules
have come unglued from the stocks. Several ferrules will
need to be resoldered as they have pulled apart (they are
C-shaped instead of O-shaped). Imitation ivory is shaded about
25% yellow (100% being the darkest orange you'd ever expect it
to shade). Chanter is a nice-sounding wooden R.G. Hardie,
Glascow which shows no signs of having been carved out.
Imitation ivory sole on the chanter is shaded about 5% yellow
(VERY slight yellowing). There are no cracks anywhere to be
found on the drones, stocks, or chanter. Case, bag cover, and
cords included. Bag and reeds are not included. I can
include a set of reeds for a small additional charge, if
desired. |

Violin - $250
2009 Lisle Model 9, SN 109-33XX China (4/4)
A very nice sounding violin in excellent condition. It is
properly set up and suitable for beginning orchestra or amateur
use around the community. The violin sounds very nice.
Constructed to Lisle's exacting standards and set up locally, do not confuse this
instrument with mass-produced unplayable junk being imported
from Asia by unscrupulous or ignorant sellers. This is a
fine-sounding instrument that is a school orchestra standard.
Case and bow included. |

Violin - $200
1954 Framus, Germany (4/4)
"Copy of Antonius Stradivarius Cremonensis, Faceibat Anno 1721,
Made in Germany, Framus"
Unrestored instrument. It it's present state I'd have to
label this a V.S.O. (Violin-Shaped Object) which is fine for
fiddling but not suitable for playing in school orchestras.
It is structurally fine and is set up. The sound is a bit
stuffy. The body is in solid shape with a few scuffs and
scratches. The neck is low and needs to be reset before it
can be set up properly for decent evaluation. Due to the
low neck, I have a 3/4 size bridge on it. Because of the
smaller bridge, the string spacing is closer than I'd normally
prefer. I haven't really decided what to do with this fiddle
yet. If I can get the neck reset, I'll be more confident
in evaluating it. Fingerboard is ebonized (painted) with
mild paint wearing in first position. I may or may not replace
it if it ever goes to the workbench. To do everything I'd
like to have done on this instrument will cost about $250
dollars. At the end, it'll still be a low-end fiddle worth
about $200. BUT... I'm not too proud to list it here
anyway. I am sentimental about this instrument and,
perhaps, someone else out there may feel the same way. Case and
bow included. This fiddle is NOT suitable for a beginning
player to use in a school orchestra. (But my bluegrass
friends love it!) |
