TEACHING
EXPERIENCE
Band Director (volunteer), Bay Area Christian
School, League City, Texas (1994-1996 and 2005-Present). Responsible for
assisting the Head Band Director in all aspects of the planning,
administration, and execution of the band program (grades 6-12)
including: establishing short and long-term program goals, scheduling,
inventory maintenance, purchasing, selecting appropriate music,
promoting the band program, matching students to instruments, student
assessment, teaching all instrument families (including strings),
rehearsing, programming concerts and halftime shows, instrument repair,
maintaining band website, and leading the marching/pep bands on the
field and in the stands.
Pipe Major and Instructor, Clear Lake Caledonian Pipe Band, Clear
Lake, Texas (2007-2011). Band founder and executive director,
responsible for all aspects of a performing pipe and drum band as well
as training new members on bagpipe and percussions. Develop and present
lesson plans which have been adapted from archaic European methods and
made relevant for a 21st century student, blending traditional
instruction of a folk instrument with modern pedagogy and technology,
keeping instruction relevant and interesting for players of varying
abilities, training the trainers instructing more experienced players
in effective ways to teach less experienced players, selecting
appropriate performance material and simplifying when necessary so that
students of varying levels can perform together.
Private Instructor (1989-2010). Provide private instrumental
instruction for children and adults ages 8 and up. Tailor lessons to the
individual students needs and learning styles. Encourage students with
praise and positive feedback for work well done. Instill a lifelong love
of music and learning.

HISTORY
Director of Internet Operations, University of
Texas Medical Branch, Galveston, Texas (September 2000 to August 2011).
Responsible for providing technical guidance and direction in the
development, implementation and maintenance of educational technology
and other information systems at the University; facilitating and
enhancing communication within the School of Health Professions and to
the many audiences the university serves; and developing, maintaining,
improving, and trouble-shooting all manner of web-related endeavors.
Human Resources Analyst, Seton Medical Center, Austin, Texas
(July 1999 to February 2000). Responsible for implementation and
customization of software applications, training personnel, business
process improvements, developing and maintaining departmental intranet
site, querying data from mainframe computer and organizing data into
useful reports for leadership team, auditing data, and general problem
solving.
Manager, Group Accounting Department, American National Insurance
Company, Galveston, Texas (February 1996 to July 1999). Responsible for
the administration and oversight of the American National employee group
insurance; personnel management (approximately 45 subordinates);
appointment, licensing, and payment of commissions to agents who sell
group insurance; C.O.B.R.A. administration; budget maintenance;
disbursement authorization; premium collection; legal and compliance
coordination; and computer support for the department.
Music Librarian, Department of Music, University of Texas at
Austin (August 1992 to May 1993). Responsibilities included providing
over 300 musicians with the proper music, maintenance and overhaul of
the music filing system, transcription of individual music parts from
scores, and collection of music and/or fines from musicians at the end
of each term.
